Diet vs Exercise
“How do I lose weight?” is one of the most frequent questions people ask before starting a diet in which we are restricted to eat ONLY fruits for breakfast, lunch and tells you to skip dinner or paying a 150$ annual gym membership. Some people hate to do physical activity and some others can´t stop eating, so we try to figure out what is the best way to lose weight effortlessly and painlessly. Nevertheless, most people have a misconception in diets, workouts, and the actual meaning of “losing weight”.
What does “losing
weight” really mean?
According to
Healthline Networks, “losing weight” refers to a decrease in your overall
bodyweight from muscle, water, and fat losses. Being skinny doesn’t mean you
are healthy. A person who daily drinks more than three energetic beverages can
be lean, yet his kidneys are completely dehydrated.
Diet
I’ve heard people saying:
“I just need to eat no carbohydrates, and I’ll lose weight”. Nevertheless,
people don’t know that our diet is composed of 50-80% carbohydrates because
they are burned to produce energy. The best diet is the one that doesn’t restrict
everything but chicken and veggies. Just be mindful of what you eat.
Exercises
Don’t act fool and
discount exercises just because you are cutting calories in diet. The American
Association recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate cardiovascular
exercises (dancing, swimming, walking, biking, etc.) 30 mins per day. Not only does
it help you to burn calories but also boost your mood and energy. Don’t forget
to include moderate to high intensity strength training twice a week. Muscle
mass helps your body burn more calories when it’s at rest.
